Happy Halloween!

Be careful out there tonight. Not only will the kids be out and the roads be wet... the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department will be patrolling Sierra Oaks!

Eye on SONA

CBS13 is running a story tonight at 10pm on the Sierra Oaks Neighborhood Association and its hiring of off-duty deputies.

I will post a link to the story once it goes on the web.

Car Break In

Wanted to let you know about another car break in.
Across the street from Sierra Oaks school, a silver pick up, both windows smashed and clearly thieves had taken what they could.
I noticed it when I dropped kids at school.
I rang the bell of the house it was parked in front of, but no answer (a few papers were on the porch, so they must be out of town)
I told a neighbor, the school and called the Sherriff.
The Sherriff told me they needed the victim to report the crime, I told him when a car is vandalized in front of a school we are all victims…
Apparently they sent someone out to investigate
Just fyi

Off Duty Patrol Starts Friday!

We are very excited to announce that deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department begin patrolling Sierra Oaks Friday evening. We will have a car in the neighborhood during the prime trick-or-treat hours (rain or no rain).

Is This Blogging Thing Working For You?

I have intentionally not put any new posts up for a few days, hoping to allow everyone who wants to view the blog a chance to learn a little more about it. I did not want to jump in at 65mph. Hopefully you have toured the site and are ready to make this THE place for Sierra Oaks news!

I will start posting new updates in the next day or two. Remember, tell a neighbor to visit this site!

Thank You For Visiting This Site

By creating this blog, we are taking a huge step forward in communication. By using this blog to post updates happening in our neighborhood, especially with regards to crime, we hope to alert residents and the off duty deputies faster than ever before.

If you are unfamiliar with blogs and how they operate, please take a few seconds to click around and see what this new form of communication can do. In the simplest terms, this is a place where we (SONA) can post activities emailed in by you. But this is not just one-way communication. You can comment on any posting. That means you can ask questions, give feedback, etc.

Another great aspect of blogs is that you can subscribe to them. That means I no longer need to email you every time there is something new to report. If you subscribe, by clicking one of the tabs on the right under SUBSCRIBE TO, you will receive instant email updates when new information is added to the site.

If you have any questions about this blog, its purpose, how it works, how to get the most of it, etc., please let me know. You can always email me at thomasdodson2004@yahoo.com. I am willing to help you understand how this works, set up your subscriptions, etc.

Thank you!
